# Homework help

Homework Help 14.10.19

As mentioned last week, our homework will have a focus on multiplication times tables. The pupils are finding times tables recall difficult. We will be practising daily in class as well.

The pupils who still need to practise their 4 times tables will continue to have homework this week based on 4 times tables.

Pupils who have improved with their 4 times tables will move onto the 6 times tables.

Please practise as much as possible at home!

There will be a timetable quiz on Thursday this week!

The pupils also have Welsh homework this week - to design a graffiti wall about Wales.

Below is a 6 times table song to help the pupils learn their tables.

Homework Help 7.10.19

Over the next few weeks maths homework will have a focus on multiplication times tables. The pupils are finding times tables recall difficult. We will be practising daily in class as well. This week we will be focussing on the 4 times tables.

The pupils will have a maths practise sheet to complete and return to school and a timetable sheet to keep at home to practise as well as a reading comprehension.

On Friday we will have a timetable quiz!

## 4 TIMES TABLE SONG

Learn your four times table with Humphrey's song from THE TIMES TABLE ADVENTURE! Humphrey is a Rock Shepherd and looks after all the rocks of boulder island and he always shepherds his rocks in 4's!

Homework help 30.9.19

This week we will be using partitioning strategy and the grid method to help us solve multiplication problems.

Here is a reminder of how to use the strategies we have learnt this week in class.

Partitioning example:

356 x 6 =  2136

300 x 6 =  1800

50 x 6 =   300

6 x 6 =     36

1800 + 300 = 2100

2100 +  36 =  2136

Watch the video below for help with the grid method

Return your homework by Friday 4th October.

## Multiplication Grid Method

Homework help 23.9.19

In class this week, we will be using our knowledge of place value to multiply/divide whole numbers and decimals by 10 and 100.

Multiplying

When multiplying by 10 each digits place value becomes 10 times bigger and moves one places to the left.

When multiplying by 100 each digits place value becomes 10 times bigger and moves two places to the left.

Watch song below for examples.

Dividing

When dividing by 10 each digits place value becomes 10 times smaller and moves one places to the right. For example 32 ÷ 10 = 3.2

When dividing by 100 each digits place value becomes 100 times smaller and moves two places to the right. For example 47 ÷ 100 = 0.47

I would like everyone to have a try and return this homework by Friday. Any that you find too difficult, leave blank and we can look at them together in class.
