Spring

We planned our topic after finding lots of artefacts in the classroom. We discussed our ideas, asked questions and made predictions. Using padlet we created lots of ideas across the areas of learning.

We learnt about Anderson shelters and how people would have the shelters in their back gardens. During air raids, families would spend the night in the shelter! We designed and made our own shelters, they were really tricky!

As part of our topic, we visited the Royal Welsh Regimental Museum in Brecon. We learnt about rationing, evacuees, children's lives during the war and sat inside a real Anderson shelter.... they were really small!

We travelled back in time to become WW2 investigators. Mr Churchill sent us a letter to find the best material for parachutes because they were running short on materials. In groups, we decided on 4 materials, made parachutes, and carried out a fair test. Each parachute was dropped three times and we worked out the average speed it took it fall to the ground.
