Autumn

This week, we received a very special memory box in our classroom... but whose box was it?

We explored the different objects inside and looked carefully at all the clues. We asked questions, shared our ideas, and tried to work out who the memory box belonged to. We had lots of fantastic discussions and enjoyed being memory detectives as we solved the mystery!

We explored our rights and used a diamond ranking activity to discuss and order them based on which rights we felt were the most important to us.

Year 1 and Year 2 had a lovely time visiting the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery. We enjoyed exploring the different exhibitions and discovering that art can come in many different forms. We spotted paintings, sculptures and lots of other interesting pieces of artwork. It was a wonderful opportunity to explore, ask questions and share our thoughts about the art we discovered!

We also had the opportunity to draw a portrait of Mr Richard Glynn Vivian himself! It was a fantastic experience, and we really enjoyed getting creative and sharing our ideas about the artwork we discovered.

In maths, we have been learning about the number system. We have used Numicon, Dienes and other practical resources to help us build and represent numbers. We have been exploring tens and ones, using the whole-part model, and comparing numbers using greater than and less than.
