Electric Rainbow

We found a room in school in complete darkness and wanted to find out what happened to it. We talked about why it was dark and it was because the lights hade gone off and they wouldn't turn back on. We then went onto talk about electricity and how we need electricity to make the lights work again. We tried to write our names and draw a picture in the dark and found it hard. We were lucky enough to have some small tea light candles (battery operated due to fire alarms) to help us try and see what we had drawn.

We all agreed we wouldn't have wanted to live before the lightbulb or electricity was invented. After that we received a message from King Sparkle of Sparkle Town asking for our help:

We returned back to our classroom where the lights were working properly and introduced our topic title for this term 'Electric Rainbow'. We then brainstormed together our ideas on what we would like to learn this term.

We have started our Film Fortnight work this week, based on a short film called 'Borrowed Light' So far we have more predictions on what we think might happen in the film, think about how different people are feeling in different parts of the film and draw a picture of what we would see if we looked out of a telescope at night.

Borrowed Light
