We had a curiosity box with food-themed items to help us talk about food and what we wanted to learn about it.

Our first story was The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

We recalled the story while we fed our own very hungry caterpillar.
We made hungry caterpillar silly soup! We had to find the words that rhyme with foods from the story.

We then made a healthy snack making a caterpillar with carrot, cucumber and peppers. We tried making a pattern with the carrot and cucumber to make the body.
We even made hungry caterpillars using natural resources in Forest School with Mrs. Welsh.

We voted on our favourite fruit from the Hungry caterpillar story and made a class graph. We could see which fruit was the most liked in our class and which fruits were the least liked.

We read "The Tiger Who Came To Tea" and set up a tea party for the cuddly toys. We had to share the food so that it was equal.
We became Pizza chefs for the day at Ask Italian restaurant. We chose our own toppings and watched as the chef put them in the big pizza oven.
We also walked around Swansea Market to see all the different types of food.
We made our own Pizza restaurant role play in class. We decided what roles we would be – a chef, a customer, a delivery driver or a server.
We talked about different meals and how different foods keep us strong and healthy. We planned a class big breakfast by choosing healthy foods and making overnight oats to try.
We gave our muscles a workout by making our own freshly squeezed orange juice.
We looked at the art work of Welsh artist Vivienne Williams. She painted different food and objects form her kitchen.
We made our own by choosing which colour paint we wanted for our background and then deciding what objects we wanted in our work. We then used oil pastels to draw them.
We were very proud of our finished pieces of art.
