Children In Need 2020

Paddington Bear sent us a special letter welcoming us to our new class.

We chose a bear and named it. Our class bears will set us challenges to enhance our learning experience throughout the year.

Welcome back to school! September 2020

For those of you whose children are returning to school over the next 3 weeks for their "Check-in, Catch up and Prepare" session, please watch this video with your child to prepare them for the differences in school upon their return.

Welcome to a new school year in Reception/Year 1!

We are so excited to settle all the children into their new class and to get stuck in to some fun learning. laugh

Looking amazing for World Book Day and some awesome collages being brought into school for the competition. Well done to Jacob for being our class winner.

Celebrating Eisteddfod today and looking amazing in our Welsh costumes. Well done to Leah who came first in our class art competition and then won the Gaynor Harris Award for best art in the whole Foundation Phase.

13th February 2020 - Da iawn Megan for achieving Welsh Speaker of the half term. Not only has Megan been confident using Welsh in the classroom, she has been practising writing welsh phrases too! Bendegedig!

24th January 2020 - We won the attendance award this week! Well done everyone - keep up the good work!

Christmas Jumper Day

A great effort for Christmas Jumper Day and we managed to fill 2 A3 jumpers with your spare change! Diolch Yn Fawr!

We won Ed the Eco Dragon this week!! We made sure our lights were switched off, we recycled our paper and plastic bottles and we turned the projector off when we weren't using it.

Universal Children's Day

We were lucky to have some children from year 6 come to our class and talk to us about children's rights. We completed a puzzle as a group, chose which children's right it represented and then drew a picture shoeing that right. Diolch Blwddyn Chwech!

Universal Children's Day

Children In Need 2019

We made a giant Pudsey face using fingerprints and joined in with the live UK fitness session with Joe Wicks.

We celebrated Shwmae Day 2019 by decorating flags in welsh colours and having an outdoor welsh disco! Joio!

Food Standards Agency visited school to teach us all about food hygiene through and amazing and informative pantomime called "Pirates of the Chillibean"!

Thank you to Mrs. Welsh who took groups out for Forest School last week....even in the rain, which made the oozy mud the best for splashing about in! We had fun and made ourselves out of leaves and twigs. Great creativity!

What a busy week!

Thank you to all the parents who came to our drop in session to welcome you to the new school year. It was lovely for the children to show you what they have been learning and what their favourite things to do in class were. I think all enjoyed and we will definitely be holding more sessions in the future.

We celebrated Designed to Smile's 10th birthday with some fun dental hygiene activities. We drew some germs onto the laminated teeth and brushed them away with toothpaste, we played a counting teeth game, and Year 2 came to class with some instructions on how to brush our teeth.

Finally, thank you for all your contributions for Jeans for Genes day.

Roald Dahl Day 2019

Rhodri sent the class a letter telling us his favourite Roald Dahl book was "The Enormous Crocodile".
We thought of what clever tricks the crocodile could plan to trick the children, we made green crocodile jelly, we did some fantastic crocodile teeth counting, we made crocodiles out of shapes, and we predicted how the story was going to end.

So much fun from one story...Diolch Roald Dahl!

Year 2 - 2018/19

Welcome Back to Summer Term!

We have a busy term ahead of us and an exciting topic of "Land Ahoy!"

Spectrum Project

On Monday 20th May, Spectrum Project will be coming into class to do the first of three sessions over the next few weeks. The Welsh Government funded project supports children's personal, social and emotional skills, and teaches them about healthy relationships. For more information please see link below.

Easter Egg design competition.

Criw Cymraeg set us the challenge to design an Easter egg and they jugded the best one  in each class! |Well done to Isaac who was the winner!      A lovely design!!

Well done to our Easter bonnet winners! I wouldn't have wanted to be Steve , the PCS0, who had to judge all the marvellous creations the children brought in! Da iawn pawb!

Kerbcraft Celebration Assembly

On Thursday 20th March, we had our certificate presentation to award the children for their dedication in completing all the Kerbcraft road safety sessions since January. The children have learnt all about crossing the road, crossing between parked cars, checking drives before crossing and crossing at junctions. We had a special visit from Rocky the Road Safety Rooster to give us all a high five!! Family members also stayed to create a road safety poster with the children.

Eisteddfod celebration - Year 2 made me so proud singing a song called Dydd Gwyl Dewi for the Eisteddfod ...Amazing Welsh voices! Well done to the winners of the art competition: Amira,Charlie and Andrew. We chose to look at the Welsh artist Laura Ashley who specialised in textile prints. We used our theme of Den's and Dandelions to design patterns of leaves and flowers and then printed using tiles. The final designs were beautiful.

World Book Day - The children wore some fantastic outfits to celebrate World Book Day 2019! We had lots of activities going on - making book marks, designing front covers of our favourite stories and we started writing entries for a creative writing competition - busy, busy, busy!
The children also brought in some amazing story jars as part of their half term homework. Da iawn pawb!

Kerbcraft - Year 2 have been learning some vital road safety skills with Charlie from Kerbcraft. We have been learning about safe places to cross the road, learning a song to help us remember to check if it is safe to cross and crossing between parked cars.

Cantref Farm- We had an amazing Christmas trip to Cantref. We got up close and personal with some very cute animals, we explored the winter wonderland, met Santa and watched a Pantomime! A busy but fun day! Nadolig Llawen Pawb.

A special mission for Year2!! Llanelli Wetlands Centre invited us to help them make a film promoting the educational benefits of a visit to their centre. A special visitor in a big red suit helped us feed the birds!

Universal Children's Day - We loved having Year 6 come to class to be teachers! They played games with us to help us learn about our rights and then we drew a children's right that was important to us.

Children In Need - diolch for your contributions to make a money trail around Pudsey's head!

Shwmae day - we made a large collage Shwmae and we wrote Shwmae in as many places as we could outdoors!

Well done Year 2! We won Harrry the Homework Bear this week. We only had 52% of children return homework so we can aim to do even better next week and see if we can win him again!

Congratulations to Isaac and Bonnie who were voted by the class to be Year 2 representatives for Criw Cymraeg.
