WEDay at Wembley Stadium

Date: Wednesday 6th March 2019

Pick up time and location: The coach will be picking us up from the school gates at 4.30am. We are sharing the coach with Cila Primary, who are being picked up at 4.15am.

Event timings: We will expect to arrive in Wembley between 8.30am - 9am for registration. The event runs until 2.15pm and our coach has been booked for a 2.30pm - 2.45pm departure. We are hoping to be back at school between 7pm and 7.30pm. We will update you via class dojo.

Lunch and Snacks: Pupils will need to bring their own lunch to be eaten at the stadium. Pupils are also allowed to bring extra snacks for the journey to Wembley, as we are sure they will get hungry. Also, please provide a few drinks for the day. No energy drinks please.

Tea Time: As it will be a long day, we have spoken with Cila Primary and are hoping to stop on the way home at a services (we have to speak to the coach driver), where children can purchase some food (pupils will need to bring money with them).

Spending money: We have spoken to the organisers today and they have said that there will be WEDay merchandise on sale ranging from £6 to approximately £20. It's not compulsory for pupils to bring spending money, however, if they would like to bring money... we would recommend no more than £30 (this is to include the money for tea on the way home). Again, this is entirely up to you as parents.

Note: If pupils wish to bring spending money, please ensure they bring in a purse / wallet which can be zipped up securely.

Dress code: We know the pupils will want to wear their own clothes to the WEday event. It is suggested that pupils wear comfortable shoes to be able to join in with audience participation and dancing along to the acts. We are happy for pupils to wear their choice of clothes, however, please could all pupils also wear their school jumper over their tops. This will help us, as staff, when taking the pupils in and out of the stadium. They can take their school jumpers off during the event.

Security: All pupils will be provided with a wristband that they will have to wear for the day. This allows them access into the stadium. All pupils and staff will have to go through security to enter the stadium, this will include a bag search. The pupils bags will need to fit under the seats in the stadium.

Note: For security reasons, bags no larger than a standard rucksack size of approximately 35(W)x17(D)x42(H) cm will be allowed into the venue.

WE charity: WE Charity carries the power of WE globally, empowering communities to lift themselves out of poverty through our holistic, sustainable international development model, WE Villages. WE Charity is an international charity and educational partner.

What is WEDay and why were we chosen to attend?  WE Day is a series of stadium-sized events that celebrate youth making a difference in their local and global communities. Blaenymaes Primary signed up to the WE schools program. Year 6 created an action plan to help raise awareness and hopefully make a change locally and globally. Therefore, our hard work has helped us to earn tickets to attend this years WE Day!

For more information about the charity and program visit www.we.org

Foodbank: At each WE Day event around the world, the charity has a food bank area to help support the local communities where the events are taking place. We would like to ask each pupil to bring one can of food to donate at the event e.g can of beans, canned fruit etc to show our support for the WE charity. Thank you!

Filming: The WeDay event is filmed and broadcast live! I will send out the link next week.

Any questions, please dojo me or speak to one of us in school Monday!

We are very excited!!!
