Memory Box

Our Class Charter

We started the term with a well being topic, looking at Ruby's Worry.

Ruby had a worry and it grew and grew until she spoke about her worry. We talked about our worries to our friends.

Ruby's Worry

Ruby loves being Ruby. Until, one day, she finds a worry. At first it's not such a big worry, and that's all right, but then it starts to grow. It gets bigger and bigger every day and it makes Ruby sad. How can Ruby get rid of it and feel like herself again?

We explored feelings and associated them with a colour.

Blue - Sad

Yellow - Happy

Red - Angry

Green - Tired

Purple - Excited

We then used shaving foam, and paints to create a marble effect of our feelings. Sometimes we can feel more than one feeling at a time.

Marble of feelings

We made a house for our Worry Dolls, so we could talk them if we had a worry.

Starting our Topic with a Mystery Box

Mrs Wiliams found a box which had objects and pictures. We asked questions and tried really hard to guess who the box belonged to. We went to ask the teachers that we thought it could have belonged to...until one picture give the clue away, a little girl with ginger hair....

We discussed as a phase (Year 1 and Year 2) what we would like to learn this term linked to our topic "Memory Box"

Once There Were Giants - Read by Mrs Smalley

Uploaded by Mrs Smalley on 2020-09-12.

We received a visit from baby George and his Mummy. Mrs Morris came to tell us all about what a baby needs. We had lots of questions to ask her about baby George.

Forest School with Mrs Welsh

We received a toy box from Swansea Museum, inside there were lots of toys we have never seen before. We talked about how toys have changed over the years. We set off into different groups.

We sorted the toys practically using a Venn diagram.

We looked at how some toys have changed.

We drew some of the toys using observational skills.

We learnt some welsh words for the toys.
