Our topic this term is Code Name Bananas and will include Swansea during World War 2.

Here is our topic map, showing our collaborative planning.

We had a wonderful time celebrating St David's Day in our school Eisteddfod. We worked extremely hard on all our competition entries. Here are our winners for 2024!

Our topic this term is I'm a Survivor, the pupils have generated ideas and discussed what they would like to learn. Our planning map is below. Scroll down to see all the wonderful learning linked to our topic!

We watched Fern Gully for film fortnight. We started the project by listening to a piece of the film with no dialogue or picture, we had to visualise what was happening. Then in groups we had to puzzle together a film still from the movie and then work as a class to predict what was happening.

After watching the film, we looked at the different camera angles used and completed a Welsh film review. Then we worked in small groups to plan a sequel story, used clay to create our characters, designed a set and used stop go animation to create our own movies.

Watch our animation below ... hope you enjoy!

We visited Plantasia to have a rainforest experience! We started our day on an information hunt, we visited the animals, collected facts and learnt more about Alfred Wallace! After lunch, we got to meet some of the animals that live in the Amazon rainforest!

We were very brave and held the animals! Millie the millipede lives on the forest floor, Hissy the hissing cockroach can be found in the understory, Banana the snake would like in the canopy layer and finally gecko would live in the emergent layer, climbing high into the trees away from predators!

Topic Hook

Mrs Smith told us that there were clues for our new topic in our school forest. We spent our afternoon hunting for the clues in the forest. We found a tent, a first aid kit, lots of butterflies, a photograph and letters that spelt out the word SURVIVOR.

After we had collected all out clues, we used padlet to record our ideas about the topic and what we wanted to learn this term.
