We enjoyed supporting the NSPCC Number Day 2021. We collected spare change to help Rhodri on his quest. Luckily the weather was nice, which made our day even better and we spent the whole day learning outside and even got to sit in the outdoor classroom and chill with an ice lolly.
We taught our dragons how to count by going on a number hunt, we exercised, we looked for numbers in slime and played skittles. As quoted by the children "this is the best day ever!"
We relaxed after our fun day with an ice lolly.
We had a visit from the Easter Bunny who left some eggs for us to find.
It sparked lots of ideas of how the Easter Bunny actually got into school to leave the eggs! Some thought that he stole Mrs. Mainwaring's keys, others thought he got in magically and others thought he picked the locks! The children wanted to leave traps to catch him and some children even sat waiting to see if he appeared again!
We found lots of eggs!
Some of us wrote a letter from the Easter Bunny too!

We had fun raising money for Red Nose Day. Thank you so much for your donations. Listen to the jokes we brought to school to make our friends laugh.

We have a new member of our class...Say hello to Marshmallow the hamster! The children will be getting to know Marshmallow and learning how we care for our pet.
We loved meeting Marshmallow and welcoming her to our class.
We looked fantastic in our book character costumes for World Book Day. We also made some amazing book characters out of potatoes!
Saint Davids's Day 2021
Our Dress up and Dance video for Children's Mental Health Week 2021.
The 1st of February marks the start of Children's Mental Health Week and the focus is "Express Yourself"
We will be setting you a daily challenge on Class Dojo but below are some activities that will help you and your child focus boosting children's wellbeing during this challenging time.
Dancing makes us feel good, so a whole class challenge to "Express Yourself" is to dress up and dance!! Watch the music video for "Can't Stop The Feeling" from the movie Trolls and look at some of the crazy dancing. Your challenge is to video yourself dancing to this song dressed up party clothes or fancy dress and send the video to your teacher on Class Dojo or Seesaw. We can't wait to see your cool dance moves!
Here are some ideas to boost your child's wellbeing at home.
For those of you whose children are returning to school over the next 3 weeks for their "Check-in, Catch up and Prepare" session, please watch this video with your child to prepare them for the differences in school upon their return. Thanks
We made pizza for our snack with the help of the Cat Tan Pizza Project. We used dough to make the bases and then added toppings to the pizza which have been grown in the garden.
They were delicious!
We loved making pizza for our snack!
We really enjoyed being outside with Mrs Welsh, collecting leaves and making pictures to take home. We even stayed outside to play!
We can not wait until our turn comes around again!
Learning outside is fun!

Roald Dahl Week 2019
Rhodri sent us a letter telling us about his favourite Roald Dahl book. It was called "The Enormous Crocodile"
We learnt a song about the Enormous crocodile, made green jelly, made crocodiles from 2D shapes and predicted how the story was going to end.
We really enjoyed the story. Thank you Rhodri.
Welcome to Reception Class!
Welcome to our new class page. This page will be updated by Miss Mainwaring regularly for you to follow our activities and learning. If you have any ideas of how our class page could be improved, please let me know. Miss M
Alongside myself in class is, Miss Lewis and Mrs Welsh.
We have many fun opportunities for the children to explore this term, learning through practical, exciting and fun ways. I am excited to be learning through play alongside the children this year.
To finish our topic of 'Superheroes' we had some very special guests to school... Spiderman and Wonder-woman came to dance in the hall with us. The children thoroughly enjoyed the party.
Veg-Heroes to the Rescue
Reception had a visit from two nurses who taught us how germs can spread quickly. We learnt how to wash our hands by singing a song.
Enchanted Kingdom - Spring 2018
Our Enchanted Kingdom topic saw us reading Fairy Tales and Nursery Rhymes such as "Each Peach Pear Plum", "Jack and the Beanstalk" and The Gruffalo". In maths we sequenced numbers to 20 to create a beanstalk made of blocks, we solved some subtraction problems using peaches and pears, we did the Digit Dog two coloured bean challenge to practise number bonds to 10 and we paid for Jack's magic beans using the correct amount of pennies. In literacy we practised our letter sounds with beans, we practised writing tricky words, we wrote a description of the Gruffalo and wrote a Wanted poster for the characters in Jack and the Beanstalk. For topic, we made a healthy peach and plum cobbler and tested materieals to carry Red Riding Hood;s pears.
AlphablocksPlay along with the Alphablocks and have fun with the letters of the alphabet.
