Estimating Sugar cubes
We have been exploring sugar in different foods and drinks. We made predictions and then we use the NHS scanner to see how many cubes were in each product. We couldnt believe it.
We had a great time in Swansea City Centre, learning about different food groups. We got to try a range of different foods, make smoothies and dishes. They were delicious!
We kick started the topic with a fantastic trip to Tecnhiquest, we had a brilliant workshop learning about the human body. After the workshop we got to explore the science floor was so much fun and very interesting.
Shared write
We have been working hard using QR codes to research life of Celts for our reports. We brainstormed lots of our facts to help feed in to our shared write. Super effort Dosbarth Horton.
A big diolch yn fawr to Swansea Museum for having all of Year 3 and 4 today. We had a fantastic day and learnt loads of new things about Celts and Romans. We can't wait to put it all in to practice in our reports.
We have been sent a special mission by Swansea Museum to create reports for the museum to educate other pupils in Swansea.
This is the direction the children wish to take our learning. If you have any other ideas please feel free to let us know on dojo or at the door.
Spring term Homework
To finish shape this week we have enjoyed making our own Christmas symmetrical pictures. We particuarly enjoyed going outside using different objects to make our patterns.
We are super excited to kick start our learning with our brand new first topic 'woodland adventure'. Below is our topic web with all our ideas for this term. If you have any of your own ideas please send to us on our dojo page.
Windmill Farmer Art
To finish our film fortnight we created our own Windmills from our literacy shed film.
After spending the first half term looking closely at the woodland animals, we have now kicked off the second half term down our local woods. We spent the morning, comparing the trees and plants and identifying them. We were lucky enough to be led by Jess, who taught us about the history of the woods.
During forest school, we looked closely at the different leaves on our school grounds, we tried to match with our friends. We then went on a scavenger hunt around the school.
Outdoor learning
We enjoyed using our bodies to make our mini beasts. Can you guess what animals we made?
Woodland Top Trumps
This week we have enjoyed researching animals for our new game 'Top Trumps'. Our research helped us to make our branch database (which we have never done before)! Everyone worked really hard and we had lots of funs playing top trumps with our new cards.
Dawn Thomas came in to school to teach us all about different bugs and where we might find them. We used different equipment to look at ground level, field level and canopy level.
