Home learning: 18-22nd January – Year 3/4

Hello! Hope everyone is keeping safe and well? Here is another menu of activities to have a go at this week. Please continue to send us videos or photos of your work on dojo and message us if you need any help – Mr Thomas/Mrs Jones.

 

Maths

-I have uploaded some worksheets to the Week 3 class folder on Just2easy, found on Hwb. Have a go at them, writing the sums down on paper if you need to.

Language, Literacy and Communication

-This week use J2e ‘write’ on hwb to write a diary page written by Neil Armstrong on the day he landed on the moon.

-Remember to use;

  • First person (I, me, mine...)

 

  • Past tense verbs (I went, I saw…)

 

  • Time connectives (First, next, then…)

 

-The page will be dated July 20th, 1969.

-Try to make it as exciting as possible and you could perhaps include some similes to describe what he could see (as _____ as a ________). 

 

-We have attached some YouTube videos below to help you with your writing.

-Please continue to practice your reading online with the Oxford Owl website. I will post the class username and password on Dojo this week.

 

Pupil Choice Activity

This week, a child in year 3/4 has suggested the fantastic idea of writing about your favourite food. You may want to;

 

1. Explain why it is your favourite food.

2. Draw or label a picture of your favourite food.

3. Where does your favourite food come from?

4. List the ingredients found in your choice of food.

 

-Send us your writing as a photo via ClassDojo or type it up using the J2write app on Just2easy (Hwb).

 

-If you have an idea for a pupil choice activity for next week, send us a message on ClassDojo!

 

Humanities

This week it is ‘World Religion Day.’ I have uploaded some activities on J2E that you can access by logging into hwb, selecting ‘Just2easy’, followed by ‘shared files’. The activities will be in the folder ‘week 3’ in the class folder.

1. Using the link above, you could create a factfile about one or more religions and explain what their main beliefs are.

 

2. If you do not have access to the internet, you could make a poster all about the religion you are part of or know about, for example Christianity or Islam. Make sure you include lots of imagery and interesting describing words!

 

Outdoor Activities

Our outdoor learning activity this week, will be to create an animal/insect of your choice using any foliage e.g. Leaves twigs, grass etc. You can send us a photo of your animal too on ClassDojo!

Language, Literacy and Communication

 

1. We have set up an activity on the Flipgrid app on Hwb for pupils to access. Instructions for how to access Flipgrid will be sent via ClassDojo.

Watch your teachers' video and send us a response. You will also be able to see your friend's responses! It’s a lot of fun!

 

2. In class, we were learning about ‘Recount writing.’ Can you write a diary entry? It could be about yesterday, the last week or even the Christmas holidays! Remember to include some interesting wow words! 

 

Remember to start with ‘Dear diary’ and write in the past tense

You could even draw or sketch a picture to go with your diary.

 

3. Play the j2blast spelling game on Hwb.

Every week we will ask the children to send in an idea for ‘Pupil’s Choice’. This could be about anything that interests them and there will be activities to go with it. This week we thought we would start it off with;

‘Favourite movie character’.

You may want to;

1. Write a fact file about your favourite movie character.

2. Write or record a video about your favourite movie character and what film they are in.

3. Draw and label a sketch of your character.

Outdoor Activities - ‘Winter Watch’

 

Sit in five different places outside. What can you hear/see? What is the most interesting sound/sight and why? If you want to record by drawing pictures, send us a photo on dojo.

Happy New Year to you all! Unfortunately we are not able to be in school at the moment, so we have put together a menu of activities for you to have a go at this week.
