We received a very interesting delivery in class this week. It was a box full of different items like photos, a doll, holiday keepsakes & school reports. As a class we looked at all the items inside and we really wanted to find out who this box belonged to so we looked at the items to see if there were any clues. Once we started to link it altogether we came to the conclusion it was Mrs Lecrass' memory box. We asked her and she confirmed we were right, it did belong to her and she told us about some of items and why they were placed in her memory box. This linked to our topic title for this term, 'Memory Box'. The children then brainstormed ideas for what they want to learn this term and we added it to our topic map.
We went on a trip to the Glynn Vivian art gallery. We had a look around the gallery first to see all the fantastic things on display there. We looked at work by Welsh artist Heather Phillipson, it was really cool. We then saw a portrait of Richard Glynn Vivian, the man who created the art gallery and had a go at copying it. After that we drew a picture of ourselves, this will lead into our work on self portraits this term.
